Born September 12, 1851, therefore now 78 years old. Residence, Acolian Hill Farm, St. Matthews, S.C. Right: Richard Newman Brackett, the last serviving[surviving] member of the original Faculty of the Clemson Agricultural College of South Carolina in service. Born September 14, 1863, now 66 years old TODAY. Associate Prof. Chemistry 1893 to 1910. Director of the Chemical Department and Chief Chemist Fertilizer Analysis since 1911 (Acting Director and Chief Chemist 1910-1911).

Richard Newman Brackett home, The Hollies Clemson University Libraries On back: ["The Hollies", home of Dr. R. N. Brackett and family for 40+ years. Newton Craig Brackett was born in this house. Built on the north west corner of the plot of land surrounding Fort Hill in spring 1893. Home of Commandant Lieut. T. Q. Donaldson. Richard N. Brackett and;  family moved into the house in Sept. 1895. Lived there until his death on Nov. 27, 1937]
