Reverse depicts image from the state seal of a palmetto tree with thirteen leaves and thirteen stars, both representing the thirteen original colonies. Spears are tied around the base of the palmetto tree, and beneath is a broken oak branch, representing the defeat of the British Oak Fleet off the coast of Sullivan's Island in 1776. Inscribed on reverse model - United States of America Half Dollar, E-Pluribus-Unum, In God We Trust.
