Alexander S. Salley (plaster) Clemson University Libraries Plaster bust of Alexander Samuel Salley, the first secretary of the South Carolina State Historical Commission - now known as the South Carolina Historical Society. A. Wolfe Davidson sculpted Salley during a trip to Charleston over the winter of 1935-6. The bust was donated to the Historical Society in 2005 to mark the organization's centennial; it is now part of their permanent collection. On back: Mss356_0613; [bust of Elexander S. Salley]
