Edwards quotes the judges decision on the matter that Ganett should be treated just as any other white student, and that no one should be allowed to suade the other students opinions of Ganett. Edward attempts to defend himself by saying that was never his intention and that his "only concern has been that Clemson students understand that the rules and regulations relating to student discipline."
