Earle Hall Clemson University Libraries On back: 9/24/66; EARLE HALL, a gift of the Olin foundation, was built and equipped at a cost in excess of a million in 1959. Named in honor of Dr. Samuel B. Earle, dean emeritus of the College of Engineering, the building is equipped with the latest facilities for the instruction and research in chemical engineering and metallurgy. Earlier the Olin Foundation had given Clemson Olin Hall, the home of the ceramic engineering department. The two gifts totaled more than two million dollars.; UA100_001186

African American Recreation Center sewing machine clinic Clemson University Libraries A scene at a sewing machine clinic sponsored at the African Americans Recreation Center on S. Library Street Tuesday by the county African Americans agent. Miss Portia Seabrook, Winthrop College, clothing specialist; Mrs. Jeanette Griffen, assistant home demonstration agent; and Manager L. R. Solesbee of the local office of the Singer Sewing Machine Co., assisted in the clinic. About 60 African Americans farm women and 4-H club members attended.

C.; In the near silence so traditional to libraries, Clemson College students conduct their references. This is the main library reading room at Clemson, South Carolina's agricultural and engineering college. The college museum, containing hundreds of souvenir pieces from the battlefields of World War II, is housed on the second floor. An all--ROTC college with a a regular enrollment of 2,340 all-men students, Clemson had more than 6,000 former students in America's armed services during World War II.
